I’m Ben Cornel, your local Liberal for Mount Lawley. I was born and raised in Morley, studied Education at ECU in Mount Lawley, and currently live in Dianella.

I am a proud Western Australian, from immigrant parents. My parents were small business owners who worked hard to provide for our family. Through their example, I learned the importance of hard work, responsibility, and resilience. These values continue to guide me today. Working hard, I graduated with a degree in teaching and then built a career both here and overseas. I have worked in policy and advocacy, representing small and medium-sized businesses across all levels of government.

Through my advocacy experience, I’ve witnessed first-hand the impact that bad policy, excess red tape, and poor regulation can have on businesses and local communities.

Ensuring that young people can afford to buy a home, making sure decisions that impact local people are practical and community-driven, and supporting the critical work that local organisations do to support our community are key priorities for me.

As a member of the WA Liberal team, I’m also fighting for real action on the cost of living crisis, better access to health services, more resources for local police, and more effective support for local businesses and entrepreneurs to create jobs.

Our community deserves a fresh approach – and I’m ready to bring my energy and experience to fight for you in the State Parliament.

Let’s work together to build a stronger future for Mount Lawley.
