I’m Rob Forster, your local candidate for the district of Central Wheatbelt.
Growing up in regional Western Australia, I have always appreciated the country way of life and family. These values drive me to make our community better. My wife, Patty, and I have been together for 48 years, blessed with 4 children and 12 Grandchildren. In my early years, I lived on a Station in Mt Magnet and moved to rural Wanneroo. Patty and I settled in the rural fringe of Chidlow and bought land at Talbot in the Central Wheatbelt. Having both grown up in a rural environment, Patty and I decided to raise our children in regional WA. We want our children to have the same lifestyle and opportuntites that we had.
After High School I studied with the Army Education Centre in Townsville, later becoming a Graduate of The Institute of Fire Engineers (UK), also an Advanced Diploma Emergency Management (Public Safety), 6 supporting Diplomas and a Post Graduate in Emergency Management from Edith Cowan University.
I have served 40 plus years as a Firefighter, Fire Officer, Peacekeeper and Instructor in the Army, Aviation, United Nations and WA Fire Services across Australia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Singapore and the Middle East. I am a Bushfire Volunteer in Talbot Brook.
I am currently a small business owner offering Fire and Emergency Management Consultancy. I have diverse interests in trucking and earth moving. I breed sheep, cattle, Quarter Horses and Australian Heritage Walers, my son and I rescued, which we train and ride.
In the nineties, I was President of the Chidlow Ratepayers, and a Shire of Mundaring Councillor, acknowledged as being responsible for the first upgrade of Great Eastern Highway from Sawyers Valley to the Lakes to address dangerous, aged design faults. I was the catalyst for the Western Australian Aerial Bushfire Water Bombing.
