WA Liberal leader Zak Kirkup today joined Liberal for Kalamunda Liam Staltari and local residents in Kalamunda to announce that an elected Liberal Government will deliver $19.3 million for major upgrades to the Kalamunda Water Park.

These upgrades would include the delivery of a heated 50m outdoor swimming pool, a heated indoor 25m swimming pool, new water slides, dedicated learn-to-swim facilities and upgraded amenities.

“We support all Western Australians in staying fit and active in their communities, and that certainly applies in Kalamunda,” Mr Kirkup said.

“Liam Staltari has been leading a community push for much-needed upgrades to this iconic Kalamunda pool and it’s clear that local residents want a modern pool facility close to home in the Hills. That’s why I am so thrilled to make this significant commitment.

“This announcement is part of the Liberals’ plan to keep our local communities together. As screens become a bigger part of our lives, we need to keep our community spirit alive and keep our kids involved in local activities like swimming and enjoying new facilities at Kalamunda Water Park.

“The Liberals will invest in our local communities to give them the facilities they deserve.”

Mr Staltari welcomed the announcement. “Ask any local and they will tell you that Kalamunda Water Park is a real gem in our community. Like so many locals, I have very fond memories of hot summer days spent here as a boy,” he said.

“But the Water Park has long needed major upgrades to ensure that local kids, families and seniors can stay fit and active up the Hill.

“I’m particularly thrilled that this $19.3 million commitment will deliver an indoor pool. This will mean that, for the first time, local residents can use the Water Park’s facilities all year round without being deterred by the cold.

“Local residents deserve access to the best quality pool facilities in the Hills and Zak and I are committed to making this a reality.”
