Member for Balcatta
Chris Hatton has been a teacher for 30 years, including being the head of a department and a Senior Teacher. Years of teaching has taught Chris how to listen properly to people's issues.
Chris and his wife Pina are the proud parents of four teenage children. Chris’ family is very supportive of his goal to represent the people of Balcatta, because he has a passion for making your local area a better place to live. Pina also teaches at West Balcatta Primary School, so the whole family has a strong connection with the community.
Chris lives and shops in the Balcatta neighbourhood. There is always talk about politicians who are out of touch with their community. Chris isn't one of them. He drives on local roads every morning, and shops at local shopping centres. Chris knows about the issues in the Balcatta community because he lives them every day.
Balcatta is a great place to live, work and raise a family, and Chris has a strong track record of making the community a better place to live. As a Member of the West Balcatta Primary School P&C and later the President of the Balcatta High School P&C for nearly 10 years, Chris worked tirelessly to improve local schools. Chris was also President of the Stirling Progress Association – in that role, he was a strong voice for the community, successfully campaigning for local improvements like safer roads.
As State Member for Balcatta, Chris has been and continues fighting to ensure that a tough stance is taken against vandals and hoons, to keep local families safe.
