Candidate for South West
Douglas McLarty was born in Pinjarra and continues to live and work at his family’s beef property as the sixth generation to do so. Douglas is married to Emma and has 3 children.
His family has previous involvement in politics with the latest, being Sir Ross McLarty as the 17th Premier of WA.
Following his secondary schooling, he moved to NSW to undertake a one year traineeship in Outdoor Recreation, predominantly working with school aged students. He graduated this traineeship with a Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation.
To enable him to return to the family farm, Douglas started working in bauxite mining with Alcoa. During this time he completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and continues to work for Alcoa as a Minesite Trainer and Assessor. All through his life he has worked on the family farm, fulfilling an active role in management and undertaking agricultural contracting work in the region.
Within the Pinjarra community Douglas is an active community member. Serving in rolls with Rotary Club of Pinjarra, Current member of the Shire of Murray Rural Landowners Reference Group and for 17 years he has been involved with the local fire brigade at Coolup.
