John Castrilli

(Retiring Member)

Member for Bunbury

At the upcoming State Election in March 2017, John Castrilli will be retiring. The Liberal Party has pre-selected Ian Morision to continue John's hard work in Bunbury.

For more than 50 years, John Castrilli has called Bunbury his home. Together with his wife Loretta and their two daughters John strongly values the family unit. Prior to be elected as the Member for Bunbury in 2005 John served 14 years elected to Local Government spending more than half of this time as Mayor of the City of Bunbury.

John arrived in Western Australia at the age of three. Speaking little English and with two small children, life wasn’t easy for John’s parents but through hard work, they prospered. John’s father worked his way up from labourer to the manager of an abattoir which employed more than 250 people. John’s mother was a dedicated homemaker who cared for the family and anyone else who needed a roof over their heads. John knows the value of hard work and most importantly – the significance of the family.

John’s professional background includes qualifications in accounting. He has been a Director of a Bunbury finance firm, and has extensive experience in banking and trade facilitation. He has previously worked in the accounting departments for a range of industries including the media, banking, transport, local and state government. Furthermore, he has been a Commissioner of the Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission.

John looks fondly on his childhood and credits his parents for instilling in him a strong work ethic, compassion for people and dedication to our nation. It is these traits which drove John to enter public service and ultimately represent Bunbury at State Government level.

Whilst John works closely with the Premier Colin Barnett as the Minister for Citizenship, Multicultural Affairs; Heritage and Local Government John is first and foremost the Member for Bunbury. He is here to help the community. As our local Member John works with strength and conviction to push for progress to ensure Bunbury sustains and builds on our unique lifestyle.
