Candidate for South Metro
Michelle is a lawyer, wife and mother. She has been a candidate for the South Metropolitan Region since 2012. Prior to her four terms as President, Michelle served for two years as Secretary of the Liberal Party’s Fremantle Division, where she is the current Treasurer.
Michelle has always had an interest in politics and law. She studied at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle Campus, graduating in 2012 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics. It was while studying at Notre Dame that Michelle became involved in politics, heading up the Notre Dame Liberal Club. Part of her studies was also undertaken at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana (London Campus). She has undertaken extensive training in negotiation and arbitration and knows how to get things done for the local community.
Michelle has worked at several boutique law firms in Perth, as well as spending time in a Canadian law firm working in Intellectual Property Law. She is currently employed at Allens, as an Associate Lawyer working in the Environment and Planning team. She enjoys working in an area focused on striking a balance between enabling companies to undertake their core business while complying with the laws and regulations that protect our environment. She also has experience in Corporate Law and Real Estate Law.
Michelle is a firm believer in free market economics and is a supporter of minimal government intervention in business. She believes that Government should focus on its core business and not compete with the private sector. She believes in supporting the family unit as the primary institution for fostering the values on which a cohesive society is built.
Her own family has grown recently, as she and her husband celebrated the arrival of their first son.
