Candidate for Kimberley
Warren Greatorex is a community leader with a strong sense about the future and opportunities for the Kimberley. He has lived and worked across the electorate and passionately believes the Kimberley deserves better. Warren has a strong affinity for community development and creating employment and training opportunities. His work is about growing sustainable economic development for the benefit of all – he is driven to see real outcomes.
Warren is a proud Kimberley Nyikina and Jabir Jabirr man who was born in Derby in 1971. Educated at Holy Rosary Primary School in Derby and Saint Patrick’s College (now called Nagle College) in Geraldton, Warren has multiple Diplomas in Business and Management including a Policing Diploma and is currently doing his Master of Business Administration (MBA) studies.
Serving in the WA Police Force for almost a decade and selected as the very first Aboriginal Squad Leader of his unit he became a successful police officer throughout the State of WA. During Warren’s policing career he received an honourable citation and was a Community Person of the Year Award nominee.
For the last 15 years Warren has held management and executive roles in a number of chosen fields in both the public and private sector and continues today as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a newly formed Aboriginal administrative body. Warren is the lead negotiator between the traditional owners and the WA State Government in the proposed development of National Parks in the Kimberley.
Warren has held junior and senior coaching roles for over 20 years. He is a recognised mentor, leader and is highly respected among his peers, community members and the wider community. A father of two he enjoys nothing more than being out on ‘country’ with family and friends fishing, hunting and camping.
