Hon Phil Twiss MLC
Member of the Legislative Council
Biography
I am Phil Twiss, and I am honoured to have been elected to the 42nd Parliament to serve the people of Western Australia in the Legislative Council.
My journey to Parliament has been anything but conventional. Shaped by the red dust of the Pilbara, the salt air of Shark Bay, years of service in the Royal Australian Navy and the resources industry, along with the joys and challenges of raising a large family, both in the city and regional Western Australia. I’ve worked in defence, engineering, and offshore oil and gas, run small businesses, and studied history, politics, and international relations. Through it all, I’ve remained committed to the values of hard work, personal responsibility, and service to others.
I entered Parliament not for personal ambition, but because I care deeply about the future we’re building—for our children, our communities, and our freedoms. I believe in a government that respects the people it serves, protects their rights, and stays out of their way when it should.
My Commitment to Western Australians
In this role, I am focused on:
‘Defending the rule of law and natural justice’
‘Protecting personal freedoms and privacy’
‘Supporting families and small businesses’
‘Advocating for regional communities’
‘Holding government accountable—always’
I believe that quality of life begins with freedom, the rule of law, and opportunity—and that every Western Australian deserves a fair go.
