Liberal leader Liza Harvey has urged the Premier to show some compassion and transparency and go public with the full details of the health advice he is basing his decisions on which are leaving such a devastating emotional toll on so many West Australians.
“These decisions are placing an enormous burden on the lives of West Australian families and severely impacting West Australian businesses,” Ms Harvey said.
“Every single day now we hear these heartbreaking stories. So it’s time now for the Premier and the chief health officer to front the media and explain the full details of this health advice.
“I want to see the full list of options presented by the chief health officer to the Premier.
“The public have made enormous sacrifices during this COVID-19 pandemic. They deserve to know the truth about this health advice, which forms the basis of the Labor Government’s decision making during this pandemic.
“No one has seen the chief health officer for months. Has he been gagged by the Premier?
“If the chief health officer is the decision maker, he needs to be accountable. The public have the right to hear from him.
“The public also have the right to know when the Premier changed Western Australia’s strategy from suppression of COVID-19 to eradication – and why.
“If the Premier has nothing to hide he will release this health advice immediately. The Premier needs to come clean.”
Ms Harvey said that if elected a Liberal Government will:
- Release all the health advice involved in any major State Government COVID-19 decision to date.
- Release, within 24 hours, any health advice used in any subsequent major State Government decision which impacts on West Australians.
