Biography

I’m Dean Wicken, a proud Western Australian. Born and raised in a working-class household, I understand the impact that rising living costs can have on families like mine. My father – a truck driver, and my mother – an Air Force veteran, instilled in me the values of hard work and perseverance.

I attended Duncraig Senior High School and now work in the automotive industry as a service advisor at Toyota. I also spent over five years working for Melissa Price MP and Senator Matt O’Sullivan. I traveled the length and breadth of the State in these roles,  engaging with stakeholders and gaining valuable insights into the diverse challenges facing Western Australians. This experience, combined with my current role in the automotive industry, has given me the expertise and understanding to advocate effectively for positive change.

Beyond my professional career, my commitment to community service runs deep. I volunteered as a bushfire fighter for over five years, including stints in volunteer fire and rescue, and spent 18 months with the SES. I also raise funds annually for Camp Quality through Wescarpade, where themed cars visit regional WA schools to bring joy and support to children in need.

My love for remote travel was fostered during the two years spent traveling around Australia with my parents in a caravan and LandCruiser as a toddler, and has continued to this day. I have a passion for cars, four-wheel driving, camping, enjoy gaming and watching classic movies.

Our communities deserve better representation, and I’m committed to advocating for employment opportunities and ensuring decision-making reflects the diverse voices of our State. I am particularly passionate about improving policies that impact those who rely on the land for their livelihoods or recreation.

My extensive experience as a volunteer firefighter, working for Federal members of Parliament, and as a Service Advisor has equipped me with the energy and expertise to fight for a brighter future for all Western Australians.
