WA Liberal leader Zak Kirkup joined Liberal candidate for Riverton Anthony Spagnolo today to announce a $180,000 election commitment to upgrading sports facilities in the district.
The commitment includes $130,000 for a clubroom refurbishment and installation of a new scoreboard screen at Willetton Football Club, and $50,000 for improvements to the Rossmoyne Bowling Club’s changerooms.
“We know that sports clubs are an integral part of keeping our local communities together and provide a wide range of health and wellbeing benefits,” Mr Kirkup said.
“The Liberals will invest in our local communities, volunteers and families by funding the sport and recreation facilities that they deserve to enjoy a better, brighter tomorrow.
“I know that our candidate for Riverton, Anthony Spagnolo, has been listening carefully to the needs of the local community and has identified both of these clubs as highly deserving recipients of a funding commitment.”
Liberal candidate for Riverton Anthony Spagnolo said Willetton Football Club and Rossmoyne Bowling Club both offered friendly and inclusive sports environments for the whole community to enjoy.
“Both clubs have a strong connection with the community, fielding teams and competitions for a wide range of skills levels and age groups, while also providing social activities and events” Mr Spagnolo said.
“Willetton Football Club includes men’s, women’s and colts’ teams, as well as an all-abilities team for players with intellectual disabilities, while Rossmoyne Bowling Club welcomes bowlers of all ages and experience and encourages participation among local school students.
“I am thrilled that together with WA Liberal leader Zak Kirkup, we have been able to announce this funding commitment that will allow both clubs to upgrade their facilities for members and attract new players, volunteers and community members to the club.”
