Shadow METRONET Minister, Tjorn Sibma, has slammed the lack of information provided by Minister Saffioti in her announcement of the delay to works at Bayswater Station, and removal of Baywater Bridge.
“Minister Saffioti has once again failed to live up to gold standard transparency by refusing to detail in full the reasons for the delayed works to Bayswater Station,” Mr Sibma said
“Her release today, trumpeting the benefits of the delay to the Perth Royal Show is ludicrous given she showed no interest in the show when the original announcement to shut-down services on the Midland Line was made,”
“This delay has nothing to do with the Royal Show, and everything to do with a Minister who has lost control of a $10billion project.
Mr Sibma said that it was about time the Minister to reveal the issues that are currently plaguing the METRONET project.
“There is still no date for the commencement of Forrestfield Airport Line services, and we don’t even know what still needs to be completed before they can begin.”
“It is time for the Minister to stop hiding her failures, and be upfront with the WA Taxpayer.”
“The budget for METRONET has already ballooned by 300%, and each and every project is delayed. Yet the Government still refuses to implement the Auditor General’s recommendation that a regular report is provided to the Parliament.”
“What is the Minister and the Government hiding?”
